The True Colors Youth Leadership Team is designed to facilitate leadership development in both the team members and the youth they work with and support. Youth invited into the program are expected to attend activities as participant facilitators and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. They are peer role models with tangible responsibilities within the organization.
OUR VISION STATEMENT
The Youth Leadership Team works to create Brave Spaces in which queer youth and allies can connect with and empower each other to create change within their own schools and communities.
Members of the Youth Leadership Team attend Friday Night Activities as participant facilitators; they oversee setup and cleanup, facilitate ice breakers, and introduce participants to the space and activities. The team also facilitates Fifth Friday activities, advertises events through social media, and maintains contact with participants through a monthly reminder email.
Youth Leadership Team members serve similar roles at other True Colors activities, including GSA summits and Muse Uprising open mics. They assist in the annual revision of the Youth Resource Guide and throughout the True Colors Conference. Members of the team also work as technicians on the Gay Spirit Radio Archive Project.
