Call Channel 3 and let them know that how angry and disappointed you are in the way they have handled this conversation about transgender athletes. HOW DARE THEY MISGENDER THEM IN THE HEADLINE NO LESS?
In my interview with Mike Savino I said (more than
True Colors, Inc. Wow - that was fast - they fixed the headline (though the story still sucks)
Lynn Hettrick Ugh. I’ll be calling today. 😡😡😡
Stacey Pepper Schwartz I called them and gave them an earful. They were dismissive at first and then just tried to get me off the phone. I explained the harm in using the language they did, I explained how it was unethical reporting and how they were spreading false information. I’m not sure how much they understood. Please everyone follow up with them. What they did was unacceptable.
Deborah Colletta I just saw this on NBC and it wasn’t much better.
Liz Brad This story popped up in my Google news feed with the misgendered headline, and when I clicked it had been "fixed" but... it seems like the author and editor didn't make any amount of effort to understand anything about trans people. Yikes. Glad they pointed me y'alls way though?
Laura Allen Cheers to the power of advocacy, jeers to channel 3 for mucking it up to begin with
Kerry Kane Brush It was a terrible article that did not explain things correctly!!! Agreed. Very poor reporting channel 3
Holly Lawrence McHaelen The new headline is better, but it should be "3 CT high school *cisgender* girls track athletes file suit after transgender girls win their events". Also, consider NOT reading the comments on WFSB, there are only a couple so far, but they're totally ignorant.
Laura Allen They changed it!
Michael Willawell In adult track i believe the discussion involves hormone blockers and measuring testosterone levels to ensure a level playing field. This article missed any relevant point and went right for the pearl clutching headline
